STRENGTH: The web truss shed frame from Shed Makers. INDUSTRIAL and farm shed buyers aiming to make the most of the space they have available are choosing innovative brace options. Shed Makers state manager Kay Thornton-Cohen says web truss bracing technology allows sheds over 15m wide to be supported without impending the usable space. "It gives you more of a true open span because there are no beams in the way," she says. "It's also a stronger type of rafter than knee and apex braces." The web truss replaces knee braces, that run from the roof to the floor, and apex braces, which are the standard roof-shaped rafters. Ms Thornton-Cohen says people use industrial and farm sheds for a range of activities, such as furniture making and mechanical repairs, which require storage of different sized machinery. "It's important to find out what sort vehicle they are going to run into the shed because sometimes apex braces will get in the way," she says. "Web truss also allows us to make the shed wider, which is important for people who need to have a shed up to 40m wide." "Web truss often has been a more expensive bracing option but Shed Makers manufacture the frame, reducing the cost for customers. "Any shed can be designed to suit the customer's needs, including budgetary constraints." Ms Thornton-Cohen says. [By Sheradun Hoderhead. Extract from The Advertiser 25.02.10] |
